Key Largo is one of the better-known vacation destinations in Florida, and for very good reason. As the diving capital of the world, Key Largo offers great, one-of-a-kind opportunities for exploring the tropical underwater world around the key. Whether you’re a certified pro with all your own equipment or a beginner looking to get your feet wet for the first time, Key Largo dive shops offer anything you might need. Wreck and reef diving are popular choices, but if you want to take lessons or rent a boat to go out on your own, you can do that too.

There are plenty of options for vacationers looking to play on the topside of the water as well. Key Largo’s beautiful waterfronts offer jet-skiers a great place to ride, as well as great spots for boating, parasailing and swimming. Key Largo boat rentals are numerous and renting a boat is quick and easy. For something a little off-beat, try a sunset cruise around the island with your sweetheart, or some sightseeing from the bow of a sailboat. If you’d like to stay on land, Key Largo offers eco-tours and wildlife displays. If you’ve ever wanted to see a great egret in flight or pet a dolphin, a Key Largo eco-tour or dolphin experience may be just the excursion to make your vacation one of the best ever. If you’d just like to relax, there are parks and beaches aplenty for you to toss around a Frisbee or do some sunbathing.

Vacations in Key Largo offer something for everyone. One day you can be feeding stingrays, the next, touring one of the city’s many gift shops, looking for that unusual piece of artwork or interesting craft to make the perfect souvenir. Many artists display their original art and photography in the art galleries around the city, and you never know what treasures you may discover. Another great in-town option: check out a theatre! Live productions are staged throughout the year, so stop in and see what shows you may be able to catch. If you visit at the right time, you might be able to catch an educational lecture, an art show, or even a city-wide festival celebrating the great seafood available year-round. For something more relaxing, Key Largo has a variety of spas waiting to pamper you. You can get a wrap, a massage or a manicure, or try a specialty treatment like essential oil therapy or hot stone massage. Make sure you check out some of the local restaurants, which serve up a huge range of fresh seafood and specialties. A few will even cook your dinner from the fish you caught during the day.

Accommodations on Key Largo vary widely. You can camp, bring your RV, rent a cottage, check in to a bed and breakfast, stay at one of the many Key Largo hotels or go all out and opt for a full-service resort. The island offers a range of vacation options, depending on whether you’d like to rough it or be catered to or something in between. There are plenty of beachfront locations, as well as places closer to the center of the city and all the sights and sounds there. Whatever you choose, you can be sure you’ll have plenty of options for places to eat and new activities to try.
